Inlays and Onlays
Inlays and Onlays in Surrey
If you have suffered any damage to your teeth, your dentist may suggest repairing the tooth to restore functionality and protect the tooth from further damage. In such cases, your dentist may recommend inlays or onlays to restore the damaged tooth.
What Are Inlays and Onlays?
Much like fillings, inlays and onlays are used to fix chips or holes in the teeth. However, while regular fillings are made from a soft material and used to fill very small cavities, inlays and onlays are solid pieces that are used to fill larger areas. It takes some time to fit an inlay or onlay as they must be custom-made in a dental lab.
What Is the Difference Between an Inlay and an Onlay?
Inlays are used to fill the area between two cusps of the teeth, while onlays are used to repair a single cusp. If a large portion of the tooth is damaged and affects multiple cusps, your dentist may suggest using a dental crown instead.
