Teeth Extractions in Surrey
When it comes to maintaining your oral health, our first course of action is to do everything we can to save your natural teeth. However, there are situations where a tooth may be affected so severely that it’s impossible to save, and a tooth extraction may be the best option.
When Is a Tooth Extraction Necessary?
There are several situations when your dentist may recommend a tooth extraction. Wisdom teeth that are impacted or cause overcrowding in the mouth can result in more serious problems over time. In addition, teeth that are severely decayed or tooth infections that have damaged the tooth roots may also be considered for a tooth extraction.
Does a Tooth Extraction Hurt?
The process to remove a tooth is very straightforward and is performed under a local anesthetic so you won’t feel any pain. While you may feel some discomfort after the extraction, this is easily alleviated with over-the-counter pain medication. If you feel nervous about an upcoming treatment or suffer from dental anxiety, talk to your dentist about oral sedation to help you relax during your visit.
