Dental Technology

From dental lasers and digital X-rays to intraoral scanners, our office utilizes various forms of dental technology to help with diagnosis and treatment.

Intraoral Scanner

Intraoral scanners are digital devices that are used to capture highly detailed 3D images of your mouth. The scanner consists of a handheld wand with a camera that attaches to a computer. Your dentist will briefly place the wand in your mouth and gently move it over the teeth to capture a digital impression of your teeth.

Dental Lasers

Dental lasers are commonly used for surgical procedures in dentistry and are an alternative to dental drills. They can be used to treat hypersensitivity, tooth decay, and gum disease and provide a more comfortable option for the patient.

Microscope

These technologies provide magnification of up to 20 times, showing discrepancies that could have remained unseen by the naked eye.

There are many advantages to magnification technology. You will notice that your hygienist also wears magnification. If you are having a root canal there is a greater chance of locating “extra” canals within a tooth. Some canals can be less than one-tenth of a millimeter in diameter, and missing one of these can mean the difference between success and failure in the long-term.
